TRIO OF WAXERS SELECTED IN
1999 OHL DRAFTS Daniel Sisca, 15-year-old rookie centre, fulfilled his dream when selected in the second round as an underage pick. The Owen Sound Platers chose Daniel 35th overall and the Platers were geniunely shocked that he was still available at that point in the draft. The Waxers signed Danny last season from the Vaughan Minor Bantams and in the transaction gave up the previous season top scorer P.J. Yedon. Replacing the under-achieving Yedon with a dynamic player like Sisca was a "steal of a deal".
The OPJHL recognized Danny's skills and talent by naming him divisional Rookie-of-the-Year. The Waxers ownership, staff and teammates wish Daniel the best of luck in Owen Sound. He wore his Waxer sweater with pride every game and the Platers are fortunate to have this fine young player. Waxer players Jimmy Ball and Joel Kitchen were both selected in the Bantam draft on Sunday.
Joel Kitchen has also been provided the same chance after he was chosen by the Erie Otters on Sunday. The Waxers are clearly the beneficiary of these mistakes by the OHL. The staff did not expect any of these '83's to return and the immediate future for the team suddenly is a great deal brighter! LH
