| Larry
returns to the Waxers for his seventh season after moving over to
Markham from the Thornhill franchise prior to the start of the 1998/99
season. This season marks Larry's
ninth season as GM (after spending 10 seasons as a coach) at the Junior A
level. He brings a wealth of knowledge, being a Level 4 certified
coach and having coached at all levels of minor hockey.
Larry's coaching career began in Unionville
where he coached the Peewee team to the All-Ontario Championship in the 1984-85 season.
Larry continued his coaching at the AAA level in Thornhill and Markham before joining the
Markham Waxers for the 1991-92 season.
The next year, Larry hooked up with Brad
Selwood and the Thornhill Islanders Minor Midget team and then moved up to the new
Islander Junior team in 1993 and remained with the franchise until this year's return to
the Waxers.
Larry has become a solid, well-respected
coach and GM, thanks to his honesty and frankness and impressive hockey knowledge and
teaching ability.
Larry is an entrepreneur owning his own
business in Markham. He and wife Brenda live in Aurora and have two sons (Russ and Andy)
and four grand children (Regan, Griffin, Morgan and Samuel). |
