FORSYTH'S SIX-ASSIST GAME IN THE LIMELIGHT
The most incredible game of the year at any level of hockey had to be the
six-assist performance by netminder B.J.
Forsyth during Markham's 15-1 victory over the Shelburne Wolves on February
16, 1999. The phenomenal story which received very little play in the local media finally
has received recognition from the media king of the hockey industry, The
Hockey News.
A
RECORD SETTING NIGHT |
The amazing performance by B.J.
Forsyth in a nutshell:
(a) he had one assist in the first period when he fed Alex
Stoyan with a pass around the red line who then hammered in a slapshot from well
out that beat the Shelburne netminder for what would turn out to be the winning
goal - a netminder assisting on a GWG has surely happened before many times but
it's fitting in this case;
(c) two assists in the second period; and
(d) three assists in the final period, the three assists in a
period has got to be a record; and.
(e) he assisted on the last four goals the Waxers scored, four-in-a-row
has got to be another record as well; and
(f) two of his assists came shorthanded - don't know for sure if
that's a record but it adds to the story nevertheless.

Just to refresh some memories:
This was a make-up game from a previously postponed game;
It was a road game for the Markham Waxers;
The Waxers led 7-0 and 12-0 after the first two periods respectively;
Forsyth also made 23 saves as he tended to his netminding duties,
however, the perfect capper to the unbelievable night would have been to get a shutout,
with less than five minutes remaining in the contest Shelburne scored on a powerplay to
deny that bid.
