70 YEARS OF JUNIOR HOCKEY |
Junior hockey came to Markham in the 1930s and
now over 70 years later the Waxers continue the tradition. |

In 1961, the club found a new major corporate
sponsor, INTERNATIONAL WAX INCORPORATED, and hence the new name. |
| HISTORY |
Junior hockey officially arrived in Markham
during the 1930s. The team operated as the Markham Jets Junior "C" Hockey Club
and won it's only Ontario Championship in 1941. In 1961,
the club became a Non-Profit Ontario Corporation #112542 and in that year found a new
major corporate sponsor, International Wax Incorporated. International Wax has supported
junior hockey since that day, and is still a sponsor of the Markham Waxers.
The 1998/99 season sees the Markham Waxers move to the Central
Division of the Ontario Provincial Junior "A" Hockey League. |

- 1941 Junior "C" Championship - Markham Jets
- 1969 Junior "B" Championship - Markham Waxers
- 1972 Junior "B" Championship - Markham Waxers
- 2003 OPJAHL South Division Champions
- Over 100 Waxer-Jet Graduates have gone to the NHL and the WHA
- Over 200 Waxer Graduates have gone to the OHL
- Numerous College and University Hockey Scholarships to Waxer
Players
- Former Farm Team of the Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey Club and
Toronto Marlboros Junior "A" Hockey Club for over twenty years.

GREAT HOCKEY PROGRAM: Build a great hockey program that the residents and business community of
Markham and Unionville can be proud of as they travel throughout other towns of Ontario. EDUCATION: A
solid foundation with many Waxer Graduates receiving U.S. College scholarships and/or
graduating from Canadian Universities.
OHL MAJOR JUNIOR "A": Continued support of Waxer graduates that wish to go to the OHL and on to
professional hockey.
CHAMPIONSHIP JUNIOR PROGRAM: Bring back championships to Markham. |
