Markham Waxers - Tradition - Alumni Special Section

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
The Markham Waxers have always been proud of their Alumni and wanted to take this opportunity to let you know what some of the recent graduates are up to now.

CLASS OF 1999
Daniel Sisca is now entering his fourth year in the Ontario Hockey League.  Starting with Owen Sound in the 1999-2000 season, Sisca was traded last year to the Mississauga Ice Dogs.  On September 30, 2002, Sisca was named OHL Player of the Week.

Brett Barrer is entering his Senior Year at The State University of New York at Potsdam.  A left winger for the Bears Varsity team, Barrer collected 5 goals and 11 assists in 27 games last season.

Rob Bumbaco has recently graduated from Niagara University where he played for the Purple Eagles.  He played 57 games during his college career and collected 17 goals and 18 assists during that time.

Mike Clarke enters his Senior Year at Elmira College and has named one of the team's Captains for this year.  Having a storied career for the Soaring Eagles, Mike has been named  All-ECAC West in all three of his seasons.

Tom Lawson continues to play in the minors after spending just one season at Bowling Green State.  Lawson has played goal the past few seasons in the United Hockey League, West Coast Hockey League and has been a call-up in the American Hockey League.

CLASS OF 2000
Greg Chambers has played the past two seasons with the Peterborough Petes having a breakout season last year when he scored 41 goals and 89 points.  Greg was selected to the OHL All-Star game and was awarded a Free Agent tryout with the Dallas Stars this September.

Tom Kotsopoulos played for the Marion College Sabres for two seasons.  Marion is small College located in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

Lawne Snyder is entering his Junior year playing along side Clarke on the Elmira College squad.  Last year Lawne was selected to the ECAC West 2nd All-star team.

CLASS OF 2001
Adam Doucette returns to professional hockey for the second year since leaving the Waxers.  Last year, Adam spent the majority of the season playing for the Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League.  This year, Adam has moved on to Greensboro of the ECHL.

Jimmy Ball returns to St Lawrence University as a Sophomore with the Skating Saints.  Last year, Jimmy collected 3 goals and 3 assists while manning the blueline in his first year in the NCAA.

Rick Marnon spent the second half of last year with the Brock University Badgers and solidified himself as their number 1 goalie.  Rick led the Badgers on an improbable run to make the playoffs and then almost lead an upset of the highly ranked York University Yeomen in the first round.

Andy Schofield played with Marnon at Brock last year and has now made the move to the professional ranks, hoping to catch on with the Missouri River Otters of the United Hockey League.

Former Captain Kevin Tompkins, now a father and husband, has been out of hockey for a year is but also looking to receive a professional contract in the United Hockey League.

Dan LeClair is working and living in the Markham area working in the HVAC industry.  James Regan enters his second year at University of Western Ontario and is hoping to catch on with the CIS Champions Mustangs.  Alex Stoyan is at University of Toronto and Robbie Burrows is at York.

CLASS OF 2002
Jesse Boucher is a freshman at Miami University (Ohio) where he hopes to make an impact for the RedHawks in the CCHA this year. He recently recorded a goal and an assist in the annual Red-White Scrimmage at Hockey Hysteria Day at Miami.

Patrick Diotte has returned home to Sudbury where he is attending Cambrian College and suiting p for the Rayside-Balfour team in the NOJHA.

Jason Duffy has moved on to McMaster University.

Joey Grasso turned professional last season with the Baton Rouge Kingfish of the ECHL.

Chris Lawrence and BJ Van Mierlo have both retired to concentrate on school.

Matt Neely is attending York University as is an assistant coach with a Waxers OMHA team.

Steve Nobili is at York University where he will play for the Yeomen.
