There seems to be something of a mental block for the Waxers when they travel down Highway 7 to Thornhill. For the second straight trip, the Waxers went to Thornhill hot off a strong Friday night effort against teams above them in the standings only to come out flat and be defeated by the hosts the next night.

This trip, in tune with the NFL playoffs, the Waxers staked the Thunderbirds to a 7-0 lead before storming back with 6 goals in the final 23 minutes to make it really interesting. Too little too late for the Waxers as they go down to defeat and fall behind the season series with Thornhill with a 2-3 record.

Brett Molnar had his second consecutive two goal game, giving him 20 goals on the year. James Gaulrapp and David Kostuch inched closer to that plateau with 19th and 16th respectively. Stephen Kapolnas scored his second as a Waxer and Chris Korte got his first of the year while Riley Hill had three assists, Derrell Levy and Kostuch had two helpers each.
