Markham did not get the job done as they could not ride the shoulders of Ben Cottreau to a weekend sweep against the Wexford Raiders as the home town Raiders skated away with a 5-2 victory to complete the season series at 2 wins a piece. Cottreau finished the weekend accounting for 5 of the Waxers 9 goals on the weekend, scoring points on 8 of them.

Markham opened the scoring on Cottreau’s first of the night as he picked up a loose puck off a Mike Standon pinch in the offensive zone, and ripped a low shot past the goalie for his 34^th of the year. Wexford would tie the score 1-1 and Cottreau would score the final Markham goal just 1:30 later as he took an Evan Erdmann pass, circled the net and roofed a shot for the 2-1 lead. Wexford tied the game 2-2 before the end of the first, made it 3-2 after two periods and then scored twice in the third (once early, once late) to salt away the win.

An undisciplined and disappointing effort by the Waxers, especially from the forwards, as they spent too much time in the penalty box and applied too much focus on anything but playing hockey.
