Stiiiirrrike three, does that mean we're out??? No It doesn't really mean anything. The Waxers picked up another point even though tried not to as best they could. They spotted the Major Islanders to 6-2 and 7-4 leads only to storm back and send the game to overtime deadlocked at the low scoring 8-8.  

The first period was slow, neither team interested in doing much. I would give Thornhill the edge on effort, and it paid off for them as they found the net first. The Waxers responded as Derrell Levy would slide the puck five-hole past the goalie after receiving the feed from Andrew Dias who battled in the corner to free it up. The first would end 1-1.  

The second saw the circus come to town and begin to set up shop. Thornhill scored three times while the Waxers could only muster one. A nice powerplay marker from Ben Cottreau, with Levy and Jaime Wright drawing assists. This period saw a bunch of uncalled for rough stuff that changed the pace of the game completely, and would leave the Waxers with only three defencemen still in the line-up. The period drew to a close at 4-2 Thornhill.  

Well now that the Circus was here, the teams figured they might as well open up the midway. The third saw the Waxers continue the poor play early on giving up 2 goals. Then with the score 6-2, the Waxers came to life. Cottreau strapped the team to his back and began the long journey back into the game. He began by causing a turnover with hardwork in the opponents end, kicked the puck out to Ryan Olidis who set up Levy for his second of the night. This was followed quickly by Jeff Weiss marker from Dias. However, Thornhill was not done either as they would find the net again. But again Cottreau would continue the journey as he potted his second of the night on the powerplay after taking a pass from Wright he stepped out into the middle of the ice and beat the goalie five hole.  

The period was like a hurricane and we now sat in the eye, it was calm on the scoreboard but no one in the building thought it was over.  

With just over 4 minutes remaining, Cottreau would start another play that would end in a goal as he fed Levy who found Nathaniel Brooks who made no mistake in finding the twine. However, Thornhill would answer with their eighth goal with 3 minutes remaining. After a number of well executed set plays by Markham they found the net again, it was Cottreau again for the hat trick who took an Olidis feed front the half boards a stepped out and rifled a rocket into the top corner (Brooks would draw the other assist). And that's the way it looked like it would end, 8-7 Thornhill, as the teams lined up for a face-off in to the left of the Thornhill goalie with 5.83 seconds on the clock. The Waxers were shorthanded and had their goalie on the bench. However, Cottreau would have one more thing to say on this evening. He won the draw clean and hard right to the point to Wright who took a quick shot along the ice that went through a number of feet including the Thornhill netminder's to find the back of the net. The Thornhill goalie never even saw the puck. The clock read 1.46 seconds and we were headed to overtime of the third straight game on the strength of a 6 point performance from Cottreau and some solid comeback effort from the Waxers.
