The Waxers dug a hole too deep
to get out of and ended up splitting the season series with the Stouffville
Spirit as a late rally came up short in a 5-4 loss. Trailing 3-1, 4-2 and
5-2 as the game wore on, the Waxers potted two goals in the dying minutes but
left the rink with 0 points.
The Waxers started the game
off horribly, allowing the Spirit to open the scoring just 47 seconds in to the
game. Markham tied the game on the first of two from Ryan
Olidis, who finished off a nice 3-on-2 rush by snapping a Ben
Cottreau feed through the legs of the Spirit tender. Chris
Korte picked up first Junior A point with the second assist on the goal.
Stouffville added two more before the period ended.

Paisley got the Waxers to within one goal midway through the second period
when he stole the puck deep in the Spirit end and then beat the goalie with a
wrap around goal to make it 3-2. The Spirit would up the lead to 5-2 by
adding one in the second and another in the third.
The Waxers got the game close
by scoring two, powerplay, extra attacker goals in the final 1:29 on similar

Brooks found a loose puck and shovelled the rebound in to the wide open net
to make it 5-3 and then Olidis bagged his second, stuffing home a rebound of
his own after Brooks and Paisley had their initial attempts stopped.
