Not
the kind of effort necessary to compete with the elite teams as the Waxers went
in to Newmarket tonight, looked intimidated by their surroundings and got beat
handily by the Hurricanes 4-1.
Newmarket
scored once in the opening frame, and early in the second to take a 2-0
lead. Markham cut in to the lead when Daniel Torres scooped up a loose
puck in the neutral zone (after Darryl Flowers and
Riley Hill had combined to
get the puck out) and streaked down his off wing before roofing a wrist shot
past the Newmarket goalie. That was all the offense the Waxers could
muster as the Hurricanes scored again in the second and once in the third to
complete the season sweep over Markham
