Slumps can be a funny and the Waxers found that out on Sunday in their second last game of the year, played in St Michael's.  Perhaps their best effort in recent weeks, but nothing seemed to go their way as they lost not only the game but also there first place standing in a 6-2 defeat to the Buzzers.

After a scoreless first period, the Waxers were able to get on the board first with a power play goal just over 5 minutes in to the period.  Tony Rossi led the rush up the ice and then moved the puck along the wall to Mark Menonte in the corner.  Menonte skated behind the net to the other side and fed a perfect pass to Kevin Cribari who was streaking through the middle of the box for the one-timer goal.  St Mike's would tie the game a few minutes later on a power play marker of their own but Markham would regain the lead just past the halfway mark of the game.  Albert Ferrante out muscled the Buzzers forecheckers and sent the outlet pass to Andrew Dias at the half boards.  Dias head manned the puck to Ben Cottreau who carried through the neutral zone and blasted a booming slap shot that handcuffed the goalie and trickled over the line for the Waxers last lead of the night.  St Mike's would score twice before the period ended to take a 3-2 lead in to the third.

Markham came out pressing in the third but became uncharacteristically frustrated and unglued taking ill advised penalties that led to the Buzzers salting away the and then the Buzzers iced it with an empty netter in the final minute.
