Friday the Waxers and Legionaires met for the first time this season at Markham Centennial.

The first period was a difficult period to watch as numerous penalty calls took away any opportunity for either club to hit their stride or develop any sort of tempo. It would be an omen of things to come. Oshawa struck first with a shorthanded goal before Nathaniel Brooks scored his first goal as a Jr., and the first of three he'd get on the night. Capitalizing on a goal mouth scramble during a Waxer PP, assists went to Ryan Olidis and Liam Bowen.

The clubs exchanged a pair of goals in the middle period, one that saw the Waxers with only five shots on goal. Rainor Guminny let loose with a drive from near the right faceoff circle and the puck while partially stopped by the Oshawa tender continued on through into the cage, Guminny's second Jr. A goal. Ryan Steane and Stephen Wong with the assists. Later in the period Brooks scored his second of the night, breaking out on a clear breakaway from the redline while out on PK duty, Brooks went top shelf on the unassisted effort.

The third period saw the Waxers score five consecutive goals to blow the lid of the contest. Three straight powerplay goals led off the period. Daniel Torres scored his third of the year from Mark Menonte to give the Waxers a 4-3 lead. A couple of minutes later Brooks completed his hat trick, firing the eventual game winner from a sharp angle, Olidis and Bowen with assists. Menonte completed the PP triple with an unassisted goal, completing a solo rush by one-handing the puck into the corner as he fell to the ice. The final two Waxer goals were scored by Pat Porretta from Kevin Cribari and Bowen from Cribari and David Lyall.

Goaltending was solid again for the Waxers, Anthony Guadagnolo turned aside 32 of 36 shots.

The Waxer home stand continues Sunday when they host the Collingwood Blues.
