Markham travelled to St Michael's for game 2 in their second round series and came away with a resounding 6-2 victory to take a 2-0 lead in the best of seven second round series.  Just like game 1, the game was fast paced, hard hitting and intense which appears to suggest that this will be an entertaining series that can still go either way.

Markham opened the scoring just under five minutes in to the game when Jason Duffy picked up his first goal of the playoffs on an unassisted marker by intercepting a clearing attempt and one-timing a hard slapshot past the blocker of the Buzzers goalie.  St Mike's would answer back by scoring on the power play sending the game to the intermission knotted at 1-1.

Markham scored the only two goals of the second period to open up some breathing space heading to the final 20 minutes.  Just 2:03 in to the middle frame, the Waxers capitalized on a power play of their own to take the lead for good.  Joe Rothewell kept the puck in at the blueline and fed Pat Porretta at the half-boards.  Porretta one-timed a pass across the box to Ryan Olidis who snapped the puck in to the top corner of the net for the goal.  Then, midway through the period, the Waxers caught St Mike's on a change and scored the eventual game winner.  Mark Menonte harassed the Buzzers defenceman into a turnover in the neutral zone and then fed Tony Rossi as they crossed the blueline and he streaked in roofing his shot over the blocker for the 3-1 lead.

St Mike's came out strong in the third and pounced on a Waxer turnover to score a goal just 48 seconds in to the period.  St Mike's used the momentum from that goal to dictate the play for the next 7-8 minutes before Markham would calm down and return to form.  The Waxers then took over the remaining 10 minutes of the game, bagging three goals down the stretch to blow the game open.  Andrew Dias added the insurance marker that sparked the outburst with 8:15 remaining when he jumped on a Duffy rebound and banged it in to the wide open net.  Then, off a perfectly executed face off in the Markham end, Rothwell fed Liam Bowen on the boards and Bowen flew down the ice leaving the Buzzers in his wake.  This created a 2-on-1 with Kevin Cribari and Bowen fired the puck across to Cribari who slid a hard backhand along the ice and against the grain to beat the sliding Buzzers goaltender.  Markham completed the scoring when Porretta jumped on a Menonte rebound in the slot and chipped it up in to the net while on a power play with Rossi picking up the second assist.

Scott Gray was solid for the second straight outing stopping 34 shots for the victory.  Gray played especially well during the late stages second period while the Waxers were killing a 5-on-3 situation.
