Pat Porretta opened the scoring as he grabbed a rebound in the slot off a Jason Duffy shot and buried past the goalie just 53 seconds in to the game.  Ben Cottreau picked up the second assist.  Just over ten minutes later, Markham caught Thornhill on a change and Derek Doucette lugged the puck up the ice, dropped to Ryan Steane for a slapshot and the rebound found Jesse Boucher's stick for the first of his three goals on the night and a 2-0 lead.  The period ended 3-0 after Michael Fish scored a beautiful unassisted marker dancing around the Rattler defense at the blueline and roofing a hard high wrist shot over the goalie's glove hand for his 6th of the year.

The second period started the same way as the Waxers upped the lead to 4-0 scoring less than 2 minutes in to the period.  Boucher caused a turnover in the Thornhill end and centered the puck to Mark Menonte in the high slot.  Menonte one-timed a slapper through the Thornhill goalie's glove for the only goal of the middle period.

The third period continued the trend of quick starts for the Waxers as they scored just 31 seconds in to the period.  Doucette and Menonte combined to head man the puck to Boucher for a 2-on-1.  Boucher tried to pass across to Steane but the pass was blocked, came right back to Boucher who batted the puck out of mid-air and in to the wide open cage for the 5-0 lead.  Thornhill would ruin the shutout bid with a goal at the 6 minute mark before Boucher would complete the hat trick scoring on a goal assisted by Steane and Menonte.  Porretta completed the scoring with a terrific unassisted shorthanded effort with just over 4 minutes remaining in the game.
