Friday night the Waxers played their final regular season contest against the cross-town rival Thornhill Rattlers. Any momentum the Waxers got going was siphoned off by numerous penalty killing assignments. Adam Doucette was in on all three Markham goals that saw Kevin Tompkins (2) and Paul Robinson provide the attack in the losing effort.

The squads exchanged goals in the first period, the Waxers struck first when Robinson scored his 13th of the year, on a powerplay from Adam Doucette and Derek Doucette.

The Rattlers took a 2-1 lead before Tompkins scored the first of his two, also on a powerplay from Adam Doucette.

The Rattlers scored late in the second and early in the third to extend their advantage to 4-2 before Tompkins would score his second of the night, his 13th of the year as he finished off a real pretty passing play that included Jimmy Ball and Adam Doucette.

The Rattlers would get the clincher and then remove all doubt with a last minute empty net goal.

Rick Marnon started in net for the Waxers and made several outstanding stops and kept the Waxers in the hunt until almost the very end.

The Waxers don't play again until next Friday but be sure to mark your calendars for this upcoming Wednesday night (7:30pm), come out and support your Waxer All-Star representatives (Jimmy Ball and Kevin Tompkins).
