The newly retooled Markham Waxers ventured in to North York on Friday night, the only Friday all season spent out side of Markham Centennial, and came away with much needed two points in a 7-3 thumping of the Rangers.

The Waxers dominated the play from the onset and newcomers Adam Doucette and Derek Doucette made themselves at home racking up 3 assists between them in their Waxer debut.

Dan Leclair stopped 34 shots en route to the victory for the Waxers in his first game against North York this season. He played extremely well stopping 2 breakaways and icing the victory with two key stops during a 5-3 Ranger powerplay.

North York struck first in the opening minutes of the game before the Waxers got on the board a minute later when Mark Menonte roofed a rebound during a goal mouth scramble in which Kevin Tompkins and Adam Doucette had previous attempts stopped. Then seven minutes later, at the 15:56 mark of the first, Kevin Cribari jammed home a rebound for his first of the night with Jesse Boucher and Patrick Diotte drawing assists.

The Rangers scored early in the second to tie the game before the Waxers blew it open with 3 unanswered goals in less than 5 minutes. First, Steve Nobili banged home a rebound at the 6:02 mark with Mike Harding and Robbie Burrows picking up assists. Then Jason Young bagged a pretty powerplay marker to score the winning goal finishing off a three way passing play involving Paul Robinson and Derek Doucette. Then, just 44 seconds later at the 10:45 mark, Mark Mitchell backhanded home a centering pass from Nobili to put the Waxers ahead 5-2.

As had been the case all night, the Rangers scored the first goal of the third period to cut the lead 5-3. That was as close as they would get as the Waxers got goals, their second of the night, from Menonte and Cribari. Boucher and Albert Ferrante picked up assists on Cribari's rebound goal while Tompkins and Adam Doucette set up Menonte's goal off a 3-on-2 rush.

Sunday night the Waxers complete their weekend schedule with a road trip to St. Mike's to take on the pesky Buzzers.
