The first ever meeting between the Waxers and the Vaughan Vipers is one that Markham will soon try and forget. A rather indifferent effort resulted in the Waxers being on the wrong end of a 6-3 score for the second consecutive Friday night.

The Vipers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on the powerplay just 3 minutes into the game before Chris Petracco banged home a rebound in to the empty net to even the score just over five minutes into the game. Lawne Snyder and Donald Johnson had assists. Vaughan then scored twice in just over three minutes to take a 3-1 lead with 1:33 remaining in the first. Markham responded just 12 seconds later to close the gap to 3-2 when Kevin Tompkins completed a pretty three-way passing play from Greg Chambers and Paul Robinson by roofing a shot under the crossbar. The Vipers however, answered that 21 seconds later to restore the two-goal lead and make it 4-2 after the first.

The Waxers then entered the third period down 5-2 but made the game close when Tompkins scored his second of the night, on a powerplay, assisted by Petracco just 30 seconds in to the frame. That was as close as the Waxers would come as the Vipers ended the scoring with just under 12 minutes left in the game, dropping the Waxers to 3-2-1 for the season..
