College Weekend was a success for the Waxers as they gained their second consecutive win of the year powering past Trenton 7-1.

The game was a sloppy affair for two periods as the Waxers took their time warming themselves up. The Sting scored first, on a powerplay four minutes into the game to take a 1-0 lead in to the second.

The Waxers responded with a powerplay goal of their own as Chris Petracco's centering pass was deflected in to the net by the Sting defense. Greg Chambers picked up an assist on the goal which was scored at the 5:34 mark of the second. Fourteen seconds later, Rob Mazzuca tipped homa Jim Ulcar point shot to give the Waxers the lead for the first time at 2-1.

The game stayed that way in to the third period when the Waxers came out flying. They scored five unanswered goals in just over six minutes to salt away the game.

Jimmy Ball got things going as Petracco and Joel Kitchen moved the puck around and back to ball on the powerplay who sent a bullet shot to the top blocker side past the goalie with 15:34 left. Kevin Tompkins then made the score 4-1 with 14:32 left in the game as he drove straight to the net on a line change and completed a three-way passing play started by Petracco and Chambers. Eleven seconds later, Paul Robinson got a pass from Tompkins and fed a speeding Chambers down the left wing and Chambers made no mistake rifling home a wrist shot from just inside the top of the circle for a 5-1 lead. Donald Johnson scored his first Junior A goal and upped the lead to 6-1 with just over 10 minutes left as he tapped home a pretty goal mouth pass from James Regan who had frozen the goalie and defensemen with a faked slapshot after being sprung loose by a Mazzuca pass. The scoring ended 54 seconds later when Tompkins stuffed home a wrap around effort after Ball dumped the puck in and Robinson dug it out of the corner and fed Tompkins behind the net.

B.J. Forsyth and Chris DelRosario both played strong in the nets as they split the game stopping 37 shots between them. The victory moves the Waxers to 2-0 and came in the only regular season game in which they face the Trenton Sting.
