The Markham Waxers got off to a fine start in their 1998 Exhibition schedule with a 4-0 win over Aurora. The game was an intense and physical one with many good scoring chances missed by both teams.

Markham opened the scoring with 6 seconds left in the first period when Chris Bahen one-timed a nice feed from Bryan Lachapelle in to the right-hand corner of the net. Chris Petracco picked up the other assist on the powerplay marker.

The 1-0 score held up through the second period before Markham added 3 goals in the final 20 minutes. Kevin Tompkins banged home the second goal after a nice pass from Brett Barrer just 13 seconds into the third. Jim Stamatopoulos then finished the Waxer scoring with two goals, one at the 11 minute mark and the second with 45 seconds left in the contest. Chris Bahen picked up two assists while Mike Clarke, Daniel Sisca and Rob Mazzuca had one each.
