The Waxers started October off with a bang by beating the Spirit of Stouffville 7-3 in the first ever meeting between the two franchises.

The game started slowly as the first 40 minutes of the game was a slow, tight-checking affair. Daniel Sisca scored his first of two on the night on a powerplay 9 minutes into the game to stake the Waxers to a 1-0 lead.

The period ended 1-1 and the Spirit jumped out to a 2-1 lead before the Waxers got rolling. Markham scored 5 unanswered goals, two in the second and three in the third.

Andrew Robillard and Rob Mazzuca scored in the second and then Lawne Snyder, Sisca and Kevin Tompkins (shorthanded) scored to start the third period.

The Spirit got the score to 6-3 with under 2 minutes remaining and that set the stage for Robert Burrows to score his first ever Junior A goal with 55 seconds left in the game. Tom Lawson earned his first complete game victory by stopping 29 of 32 shots he faced..

The Waxers next game is October 2 as they take on the Huntsville Wildcats in a rematch of the season opener, this time on Markham turf.
