The Waxers battled to their first tie of this young season as they tied the visiting Couchiching Terriers 3-3.

The first period saw the teams exchange powerplay goals as Daniel Sisca scored the Waxers first marker with helpers going to Mike Clarke and Andrew Robillard.

The second period was more of the same as the Terriers went out in front 2-1 early in the frame before the Waxers would even it up once again with a powerplay goal by Ryan Bayliss half way into the second.

The third period saw the first Waxer penalty shot of the year as Ian Malcolm was pulled down on a breakaway opportunity while penalty killing, Rob Mazzuca took the penalty shot as Malcolm was shaken up on the play and glanced a shot off of the crossbar. With eight minutes remaining in regulation the Terriers would once again take the lead 3-2 before the Waxers would pull even with less than two minutes left in the third on another powerplay goal, this one by Chris Petracco assisted by Sisca.

Overtime saw the Waxers have a good opportunity to gain the victory as they had additional man-advantage situations but the man of the evening was goaltender Tom Lawson who made a sprawling game saving stop on a Terrier breakaway with 3 seconds left in the contest. Lawson was steady all night and spectacular at times as he earned the tie.

The Waxers next game is Friday as they play host to the Newmarket Hurricanes.
