MARKHAM MAKES BIG MOVE TO ACQUIRE GOALTENDER
The Markham Waxers are pleased to announce the acquisition of goaltender Jeremy Wenzel from the Collingwood Blues.

This marks the return of Wenzel to the blue and white as he previously donned a Waxer sweater during the 1996-97 season. Jeremy is an accomplished number 1 goaltender who had spent the past two seasons with the Milton Merchants helping lead the Merchants to a birth in the Royal Bank Cup in 1998 and a spot in the OPJAHL Finals in 1999.

The 5’9", 165 lbs goaltender racked up impressive stats in the 1998-99 season playing 1466 minutes allowing only 65 goals against for a goals against average of 2.66 including 1 shutout. So far this season, Jeremy has appeared in 6 games for Collingwood.

"It was a deal that was just too good to pass up," states Head Coach Russ Herrington. "Any time you can bring in a solid number 1 with the track record of success like Jeremy has, you jump at the chance. Our team just got a whole lot better." Look for Jeremy to see his first action between the pipes on Thursday night when the Waxers travel to Stouffville to tangle with the Spirit.
