
WAXERS UPCOMING SEASON
SHAPING UP AS THEY RELEASE ROSTER AND SCHEDULE
The Markham Waxer Junior A Hockey Club is pleased and excited
to announce their lineup for the upcoming 1998-99 season.
The Waxers are going to rely on a good mix of veterans and
newcomers this season and look to parlay a strong work ethic and high skill into a strong
showing in the reorganized OPJAHL. Although the season is still almost a month away, the
Waxers have almost finalized their roster are geared up to begin their pre-season schedule
in a little over a week's time.
THE VETERANS
The Waxers are excited at the chance to suit up 14 veteran players for this season, with
all players entering their second season in the Junior A ranks. Returning for their second
year as Waxers are forwards Locky
Gelinas, Bryan
Lachapelle, Chris
Petracco and Kevin
Tompkins; defenseman Dan Britt; and goaltender Kevin
Cordiner.
Coming over from Thornhill are veteran
forwards Ian Malcolm, Brett Barrer, Matt
Selby, Rob Mazzuca,
and defensemen Lawne Snyder,
Mike Clarke and Chris Bahen.
THE NEWCOMERS
On top of the 14 returnees, Markham will be adding 8 capable newcomers, 4 forwards, 3
defensemen and 1 goaltender. Daniel
Sisca, Joel Kitchen,
and Jimmy Ball make the jump
from Minor Bantam ranks to the Waxers, while Alex
Stoyan, Jim Stamatopoulos, Jim Ulcar and Robert Burrows move up from
Midget. The final newcomer is Tom Lawson
who tended the twine last season in High School hockey.
