On January 30, 2004, the Waxers will honour their 6 graduating players.

 2004 GRADUATE APPRECIATION NIGHT
WAXERS TO HONOUR SIX PLAYERS IN THE
"CLASS OF 2004"

On January 30, 2004, the Markham Waxers will be holding their 5th Annual Graduating Players Appreciation Night.  Each year, the Waxers take time to celebrate the careers of their players that are competing in their final year of Junior A eligibility.  This year, in the final regular season home game, the Waxers will honour the Class of 2004: Evan Erdmann, Steve Ritchie, Jeff Paisley, Mike Standon, Jason Duffy and Team Captain Albert Ferrante.

Erdmann, Ritchie and Paisley are all in the first seasons with the Waxers.  Erdmann was acquired in January 2004, from the Toledo IceDiggers of the CEHL.  A native of Indiana, Erdmann bagged his first OPJAHL goal on January 7th.  Ritchie joined the Waxers in December after spending last season with the Brampton Capitals.  Ritchie scored his first Waxer goal against Vaughan on January 2, 2004.  Paisley, after spending the previous 2 1/2 seasons with the Newmarket Hurricanes, joined the team in October 2003.  He wasted little time getting his first Waxer goal, scoring October 31st.

Standon joined the team last season in time for the 2003 Playoffs and was a member of the South Division Championship squad.  Previously playing in Oakville and Burlington, Mike waited until this season to get his first goal as a Waxer, bagging it against Thornhill in November.

Duffy, the second longest serving Waxer, is in his fourth season with Markham.  Scoring 20 goals in three previously regular seasons, Duffy scored in each of the last three first round playoff series clinching victories, including a decisive marker in game 7 against North York in the 2002 playoffs.

Captain Ferrante, an Alternate Captain last season, is in his fifth season with the Waxers.  A two time OPJAHL All Star, Ferrante is known across the South Division as being a ferocious defender and having an innate ability to block shots.

The Waxers will honour these 6 players for their service and careers in a pre-game ceremony prior to taking on the St Michael's Buzzers on Friday the 30th.
