BOUCHER TO MIAMI TO BE A
REDHAWK IN 2002
Leading scorer Jesse Boucher
has made a verbal commitment to accept a scholarship to Miami (Ohio)
University beginning September 2002. This is the first in what the
Waxers hope to be a number of Division 1 scholarships for this year's squad.
Jesse joined the Waxers last season after
playing with the Markham Islanders Midgets and the Brother Andre High School
teams in the 1999-2000 season. While at Brother Andre, he led the
school to its first OFSAA Hockey Championship, setting a record for most
points at an OFSAA Tournament with 17.
Jesse was the leading goal scorer on the
Waxers last season with 35, finishing fourth in the South Division. He
added 28 assists for 63 points. In the playoffs Jesse added 9 goals
and 3 assists for 12 points. His most memorable goal was the
double-overtime winner on March
5 against Wexford forcing a seven and deciding game in the second round
of the playoffs.
So far this season, Jesse has scored 14
goals and added 11 assists in just 9 games for 25 points.
