If the Markham Waxers had their way, they would know by now who their
upcoming first-round opponent will be when the Provincial Junior A Hockey
League begins postseason action late next week.
However, with five teams battling it out in the leagueıs south conference
determine who finishes fourth through eighth, a mystery still surrounds
third-place Waxers as to who they will face off against when the leagueıs

Waxers have held the upper hand on the Oshawa Legionaires.
As far as Waxers' head coach Russ Herrington recalled, his team had a

But they did begin the 2002 calendar year on a positive note last Friday
defeating the Vaughan Vipers 4-3 at Centennial Arena.

Perhaps the only good thing that took place for the Markham Waxers last
Friday was that they played their final Provincial Junior A Hockey
League contest of the 2001 calendar year.(article)
With the Christmas holiday season now in full swing, the Markham Waxers
might have been a little too caught up in the festivities instead of
worrying about two Provincial Junior A Hockey League contests that were
on their agenda just before Christmas Day.
Playing host to the Stouffville Spirit on Dec. 21, the Waxers were
humiliated in front of the Centennial Arena gathering when they

Mark Skeeles picked a good time to score his first Provincial Junior A
Hockey League goal.
The first-year member of the Markham Waxers potted what turned out to be
game-winning goal with just 4:33 remaining in regulation time to propel
Markham to a 4-3 road win over the north conference-leading Newmarket

But the Markham Waxers will gladly accept a pair of victories last weekend
