In a complete reversal of the game 24 hours earlier, the Waxers showed up completely disinterested in Thornhill and as a result were beaten soundly by a 4-2 score by the Thunderbirds. Falling behind 3-0 before the game was even 23 minutes old proved to be all the indication necessary of which team came to play and which team didn’t on the evening.

Markham would not get on the scoreboard until the 39^th minute, when Josh Jacobs was hauled down on a clear cut breakaway and was awarded a penalty shot. It was the first penalty shot awarded to the team since the South-East Conference Finals versus Wellington in 2003. Jacobs came down the ice and after a small move, slipped the puck over the goalie with a backhand shot for his 8^th of the season. Markham would make it interesting just 7 minutes later, when David Kostuch picked up a rebound in the high slot (after Shareef Labreche fed Nathan Morris for a point shot) and danced his way in through 3 defenders and then the goalie for his 11^th goal of his rookie season.

Markham could not get any closer as Thornhill salted away the victory with their 4^th goal with just 1:36 left on the clock to even the season series 2-2 after 4 of the 6 games between the two cross town rivals.
