The Waxers finished up their three games in four night season opening weekend with an exciting come from behind victory over the visiting Tigers.

The game for the most part was rather sloppy at time as both teams often missed on their passes and each side allowed numerous odd man rushes to develop.

The opening goal of the game was perhaps an omen that this might be a night when just about anything could happen. Seven and half minutes into the contest Albert Ferrante wired a puck off the boards that slipped through a crowd of players in the neutral zone as it caromed towards the middle of the ice and then it continued all the way and somehow eluded the Tiger netminder. Eight minutes later the Tigers got that one back with a deflection with just two seconds left on a power play advantage. With less than two minutes left Kevin Cribari scored the first of two on the night for him when he wristed home a rebound from Pat Porretta's shot after Nathaniel Brooks had kept a clearing attempt from succeeding.

The Tigers wasted no time in equalizing the count in the second period when they tied it up at 2-2 just sixteen seconds after the drop of the puck. Ryan Steane picked up a loose puck just inside the Tiger blueline at the four minute mark and broke in all alone to give the Waxers the lead back at 3-2. Midway through the game Cribari scored his second of the night when he was spotted all alone at the Tiger blueline by Jamie Wright who fed the puck straight up the middle and Cribari made no mistake to put Markham up 4-2. The Tigers halved the lead with less than five minutes left in the period on another power play goal and the second concluded with Markham up 4-3.

The lead would finally erode away as the Tigers netted a pair of goals two minutes apart early in the third. The Waxers then sent six attackers out with just over a minute remaining and then called a timeout after an icing call sent the faceoff to the right of the Aurora goal. That set the scene for the furious rally to tame the Tigers. Wright, playing in his second game since his acquisition from Lindsay, picked up a rebound and wristed home the tying goal with just 42 seconds remaining in regulation. Cribari and Michael Pain has assists on the equalizer. Then just as everyone was getting set to expect overtime the Waxers did it again just 16 seconds later when Porretta drove home the game winner from Brooks and Cribari.

Next up for the Waxers are the Wexford Raiders on Friday night at Markham Centennial.
