The Waxers finished the season the way they
started it, with a 7-4 victory and with Jesse
Boucher scoring a hat
trick. The victory was over North York, giving the Waxers 26 on the year,
and the goals were numbers 49, 50, and 51, giving Boucher the third highest
goal total in Waxer history.
The first period ended in a 1-1 draw as Boucher
scored the Waxers' lone goal, streaking down the off wing and beating the
goalie with a hard wrist shot (assists to Travis O'Rourke and
Matt Neely). The Waxers blew open the game in the second period with a flurry
of goals. Boucher's fiftieth, when he deflected a Neely point shot, got
things rolling. Kevin Cribari scored to break a 2-2 tie on a powerplay
goal assisted by Derek Doucette and
Mark Menonte. Then, Ben Cottreau
scored when he backhanded a rebound over the Ranger goalie after Steve Nobili
had won the draw back to Doucette and the goalie stopped Doucette's shot from
close range. Nobili scored the eventual game winner, shorthanded (the
Waxers 20th of the year) with just over 2 minutes remaining in the frame.
Pat Porretta upped the lead to 6-2 in the first
minute of play, scoring on a 2-on-1 after Neely had sprung the rush with a pass
from inside the Waxer end to Porretta on the other side of center. North
York cut the lead to 6-4 before Boucher finished in style, converting on a
semi-breakaway with Michael Diamond and
Michael Pain drawing helpers on the
play.

the victory, his 8th of the season for the Waxers.
