Markham lost for the first time in 2002 as Oshawa took advantage of sloppy play in the defensive end for a 5-4 victory. The Waxers out shot the Legionaires 48-19 but could not recover from a 5-2 deficit half way through the game.

Oshawa scored the first two goals of the game on powerplays before Ben Cottreau would get the Waxers on the board before the end of the first period. The Legion made the score 3-1 with their third powerplay goal of the goal before Joey Grasso would respond and cut the lead to 3-2. Oshawa would up the lead to 5-2 before Jesse Boucher would make the game 5-3 shortly before the end of the second period.

Markham stormed the net for the majority of the third but would not solve the Oshawa goalie until a Mark Menonte powerplay goal with just under 3 minutes remaining on the clock.
