The early season losing streak was extended to 4 games as the visiting Rangers handed the Waxers a 8-2 drubbing in their first meeting of the year. The Rangers played the entire game with more desire and enthusiasm than the Waxers, which showed on the scoreboard.

North York scored the first goal in the fifth minute of play for an early 1-0 lead. Markham would tie the score with just over 2 minutes left in the period when Michael Diamond kept the puck in at the blue line, fed Mark Skeels in the slot who one-touched the puck to Pat Porretta for the one timer and the 1-1 draw.

The second period saw the Rangers score twice, once on a powerplay and once short handed for a 3-1 lead in to the final twenty.

North York struck first to up their lead to 4-1 before Markham would make things interesting, at least temporarily. Michael Fish and Ty Raine (one of the Bantam Waxers) combined behind the net before Raine centered the puck to Jason Young who drove the puck past the Ranger goalie and cut the lead to 4-2. North York added 4 more goals, 2 empty netters, in the final 6:11 of the game to blow it wide open.
