The Waxers made it two in a row in as many nights as they defeated the Vaughan Vipers 8-1 on Saturday night. As the score indicates, the Waxers dominated the game pretty much from the first drop of the puck, in the end firing 46 shots at the Vaughan goaltenders.

Markham got on the board just 1:05 in to the game when Jesse Boucher slapped home his 4th of the year with Ryan Steane picking up the assist, the first of 4 points on the night. The Waxers extended the lead eight minutes later when on a 3-on-2, Boucher passed across to Mark Menonte who fed Steane in the goal mouth for an easy tap-in goal. This was Steane's first goal since the playoffs in February 2000 and marked a triumphant return after sitting out last year recovering from a broken neck. The period ended 3-0 when Steane banked home his second goal of the night from behind the net with just 3 seconds on the clock. Derek Doucette picked up the only assist.

The second period saw the Waxers score short-handed to make the score 4-0. Doucette blocked a shot in the defensive zone and outletted to Pat Porretta. As he started up ice he threw the puck in to the Vipers end a the speedy Paul Robinson won the race to the puck, stepped out from behind the net and beat the goalie between the legs for the tally, his first of the year. Vaughan would later score their lone goal with 6 seconds left in the period, ruining the shut out bid of Kevin Sit.

The third period saw the Waxers put the game away. Just over a minute in, Menonte scored to make it 5-1 as Steane and Boucher assisted. Then with just over 7 minutes left, Ben Cottreau scored his first Junior A goal. Following a Jason Duffy rush up the ice, Cottreau grabbed the rebound and quickly stuffed it around the sprawling Vipers goalie for a 6-1 lead. The Waxers scored two power play markers in the final 4 minutes, first Doucette ripped a shot high glove side and then Menonte one-timed a slapper from the middle of the box to finish the scoring. Boucher and Mark Skeels picked up assists on Menonte's goal.

Sit picked up his first Jr A win as he stopped all but the one shot in a stellar performance between the pipes.
