North York has surged ahead in the best of seven series after the Waxers lost for the second straight time in North York, this time by a 3-1 score. Again, the Waxers waited until it was too late to get the offense going and could not mount the comeback needed in the third period.

After a scoreless first period, North York opened the scoring at the five minute mark of the second period. Steve Nobili scored to tie the game just 19 seconds later when he corralled a Patrick Diotte rebound and wristed the puck past the Ranger goaltender for the only Waxer goal of the evening. North York would score again in the second to enter the third up 2-1.

The Rangers upped the lead to 3-1 when they converted on a 2-0 breakaway with under 5 minutes left in regulation. The Waxers could not cut in to the lead at all and return home looking to even the series.
