The series is tied at 1-1 after the North York Rangers defeated the visiting Waxers by a 3-2 score in game 2. The Waxers seemed to carry over their tentative play from game 1 while the Rangers seemed to carry the confidence from the close game in to this one.

Markham opened the scoring in the first period when Joey Grasso took the puck in the neutral zone from Steve Nobili and danced his way in to the slot on a nifty one-on-one move around the defenseman. The goalie stopped the backhander from Grasso but Ben Cottreau swooped in and slid the rebound home for the 1-0 lead. North York tied the score less than 3 minutes later and the first period ended 1-1.

North York took the lead 2-1 after a powerplay goal just under three minutes in to the middle frame. Mark Menonte scored an unassisted powerplay goal to tie the score mid way through the period as he pounced on a turnover in front of the net and roofed a backhand for the 2-2 tie. North York would score the eventual game winner, on the powerplay, with 4:18 left in the second period.

Markham outshot the Rangers 11-1 in the final period but could not score the equalizer.
