The Waxers fell behind 2-0 in the
first period before Jesse
Boucher would score on a powerplay from Patrick
Diotte and Alex Stoyan
to halve the lead.
Markham had numerous excellent
scoring opportunities to tie the game and more and ended up outshooting the
Buzzers 51-34 on the night, the shot totals being quite reflective of the flow
of the contest.
Dan
Leclair while not quite as busy as his Buzzer counterpart turned in a
solid outing, making several stops on clearcut breakaways, especially in the
third period as the Waxers opened things up in an unsuccessful effort to notch
the tying marker.
St. Mike's netminder was
outstanding in goal for the visitors and was clearly the reason the Waxers had
a victory stolen away. Despite the Waxers lack of scoring punch they created
countless dangerous scoring chances, only to either misfire or be stung by a
hot keeper. If the Waxers weren't generating scoring chances then it might be
time to be a little concerned, this wasn't the case and the Waxers will use
these tough-luck games as learning experiences as they begin to ramp up for a
drive to the finish, yes the season has already passed the midway point and the
race for the top is on.
