The Waxers hosted the Ajax Axemen on Friday night as they finally are nearing the end of their crazy seven games in nine day schedule.

The first period saw both clubs exchange goals but it was the netminding of Dan Leclair that kept the Waxers in the hunt. Leclair turned aside 20 of 21 shots he faced in the opening twenty minutes. Kevin Cribari scored the Waxer marker from Mike Stoyan and Kevin Tompkins. Stoyan did an excellent job of holding the puck in the offensive zone when he blocked an attempted clearout pass by the Axemen and then helped start the play that produced the Waxers first goal of the night.

After the Axemen scored two unanswered goals in a very uninspired second period by the Waxers the Markham club roared back to life late in the third period. Mike Harding scored his second of the year from Jason Young and Paul Robinson to make it 3-2. Then with less than a minute to go and with six attackers on the ice, Jesse Boucher scored his 15th of the year from Bobby Fitkin and Steve Nobili to tie the score at 3-3. Just when everyone thought that overtime loomed the Axemen burst that bubble by scoring just eight seconds later to take a 4-3 lead and then later added an empty net goal with just six seconds remaining..
