Robert Burrows was the recipient of a fortunate bounce for his second goal of the year just 93 seconds into the contest. Jason Fraccaro and Paul Robinson drew assists. After controlling the opening minutes of the game the Waxers ran into penalty woes that Pickering was able to take advantage, netting a powerplay goal at the thirteen minute mark to leap ahead 2-1 after earlier they had tied the score. With five minutes remaining in the period Kevin Tompkins took a breakaway in from the blueline and flipped the puck into the Panther cage to tie the score at 2-2. Mark Menonte and Mike Harding with assists on the tying goal.

The Waxers struck twice in the second period, just three minutes apart, to take a 4-2 lead, their first lead since the opening goal but a lead they'd not relinquish. Midway through the frame Albert Ferrante shot one from the point along the ice, Tompkins in the slot re-directed the drive but the Panther netminder made a fine save. However, the save produced a rebound that sat tantalizing at the edge of the crease, after what seemed like an eternity, Menonte raced in and in one quick motion flipped the puck over the helpless netminder to give the Waxers a 3-2 edge. Three minutes later Diotte fed Robinson who rushed down the right wing and then cutting across from right-to-left, flipped the puck with one arm into the gaping cage for the fourth Waxer goal of the night. The Waxers clearly held the edge in play in this period, at times dominating and could have easily had several more but weren't able to cash in their chances. Fraccaro had a glorious chance in the second but as he fired the puck high it sailed and went right over the cage and the glass, he won't miss those very often.

An early powerplay goal by the Panthers closed the gap to one goal before the Waxers would ice the victory with a pair of markers. Jesse Boucher scored a highlight reel goal, a powerplay effort to put Markham up 5-3. The goal was a pretty display of hand-eye co-ordination, Ball from the point fired the puck about two feet off the ice towards the Panther goal, Boucher standing about fifteen feet in front of the net, batted the puck out of the air and completely changed the direction of the drive and sending it passed the Panther netminder who had no chance on the play. Steve Nobili, in his Waxer debut, concluded the scoring when he converted from Diotte and Mark Mitchell to conclude the scoring.

The contest was at times a chippy affair and featured two thunderous hits from Waxer defenders, Ball and Harding, each with excellent body slams in the defensive zone. The other blueliners Diotte, Ferrante, Mitchell and Pollock all had solid outings in the victory.

Paul Guthrie went the distance to earn the victory, his first against his former team.

The victory extends the Waxers modest early season winning streak to eight games and they next face the St. Michaels Buzzers at St. Mike's on Sunday evening.
