The Waxers traveled to Newmarket to complete the home and away series and after falling behind early 3-0 they fought their way back to within a goal twice before succumbing eventually 7-4.

The Waxers got off to a sluggish beginning and fell behind 3-0 before the first period was over. After the intermission the Waxers came out of the gate with new energy and proceeded to claw their way right back into the contest. Four minutes into the middle period Jason Fraccaro scored from Jason Young and Joel Kitchen to cut the deficit to 3-1. Less than two minutes later Robert Burrows scored from Young and Kitchen to bring the Waxers with one.

After a late second period goal put the Hawks in front 4-2, Kevin Tompkins scored his 19th goal of the year to bring the Waxers within once again. Tom Kotsopoulos and Brent Pollock picked up assists. That would be as close as Markham would get however, and Newmarket scored twice midway through the period to stretch the lead to three before Greg Chambers picked off the corner after taking a feed from James Regan to cut the margin to 6-4 but it was too little too late on this night.

Once again Jeremy Wenzel was absolutely sensational especially in the second and third periods as he refused to let the Hawks run away with the game. He made some of the most unbelievable stops, many of them consecutively at one point stopping six shots in a matter of a few seconds before they finally popped a rebound in.
