An uninspired effort on Friday night caused a bad week to get even worse as the visiting Wexford Raiders pounded the Waxers 7-3.

The Raiders started strong and led 3-0 after 20 minutes.

Markham finally got on the board as Paul Robinson took a Tom Kotsopoulos pass in the neutral zone and stepped over the blueline and blew a slapshot past the Wexford keeper for a 3-1 score after 28 minutes. Wexford added one in the second and it was 4-1 after two.

Then early in the third period on the powerplay, Jimmy Ball went end-to-end and scored to make it 4-2 with assists to Lawne Snyder and Joel Kitchen. Wexford responded two minutes later to make it 5-2. The Waxers narrowed the gap to 5-3 when Pat Ferris drove the net and deposited his first Junior A goal when he tapped home a rebound after a James Regan blast from the slot. Rob Mazzuca picked up the other assist. That was as close as the Waxers would get as the Raiders sealed the victory with two goals in the last ten minutes.
