Snapping a difficult losing string and with a lineup that resembled the normal squad after an unbelievable flurry of injuries the Waxers sprung for thirteen goals as they trounced the visiting Buzzers 13-6 Friday night at Centennial Arena.

Markham jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead on the strength of two powerplay goals. At the thirteen minute mark Kevin Tompkins scored from Jimmy Ball and Greg Chambers to make it 1-0. About a minute and a half later Daniel Beaudoin's extra strength marker from Rob Mazzuca and David Colucci made the score 2-0. Waxers played a sound positional game in the opeining twenty minutes and received exceptional netminding from Jeremy Wenzel who kept the Buzzers off the board during the only point of the contest where the outcome was in doubt.

The second period saw both clubs erupt with offensive thrusts and opportunistic finishes of scoring chances. Just 85 seconds after the faceoff Paul Robinson scored to make it 3-0, from Chambers and Mike Carlesimo. A little over a minute later Colucci scored the first of his three on the night when he combined with Chris Petracco and Mike Stoyan to make it 4-0.

St. Michael's finally got on the board on the powerplay with a pretty goal that had Wenzel with no chance on the play as the Buzzers cut the lead to 4-1 with just under eight minutes remaining in the period. Robert Burrows got that one back from Ball and Joel Kitchen at the thirteen minute mark. After St. Mike's scored to cut the lead to 5-2 Burrows combined with Mazzuca and Kitchen for his second of the night to make it 6-3 with four minutes remaining in the second period. St. Mike's would score on the powerplay before the frame would conclude as the Waxers took a 6-3 lead into the second intermission.

The third period saw the Waxers simply erupt as they fired in seven, that's right 7 goals into the Buzzers cage to blow the lid off the Centennial Arena. The Buzzers would counter with three of their own but by then the contest was long over. Lawne Snyder, in his first game back after an extended layoff due to injury scored off a picturesque pass from Colucci for the Waxers seventh goal, Petracco drew the other assist. Colucci a pair, six minutes apart to complete his hat trick as he put the wraps on a five-point effort. Robinson, Tompkins, Mazzuca and Burrows would complete the scoring for the Waxers. Burrows also earned a hat trick, his first as a Waxer as the hard working right winger (also centre) has been perhaps the most improved Waxer this season.

The Waxers move into sole possession of fourth place now in the Southern Division with their victory as Ajax lost for the second time this season to Pickering last night.

While they can be happy with the much needed victory the Waxers have no reason to be content, one game doesn't make a season and they face the powerful Thornhill Rattlers Saturday night in Thornhill after taking a 10-3 pasting a week earlier.
