Cross-town rival Thornhill Rattlers handed the injury depleted Markham Waxers a 10-3 loss Friday night at Centennial Arena.

The injury-plagued Waxers combined with three players out due to suspension were omens of a bad night for Markham.

Thornhill would score four in the first period to take 4-0 lead after one period. Greg Chambers scored the first of his two when he converted a feed from Rob Mazzuca and Dan Beaudoin to cut the margin to 4-1. Chambers would score with just over four minutes remaining after Thornhill replied twice to cut the deficit to 6-2. Robert Burrows and Jason Young picked up assists. Rob Mazzuca deflected a shot from Beaudoin who delivered the blast on a feed from Mazzuca and the Waxers were back in the hunt at 6-3.

Two early third period Rattler goals quickly blew apart any thoughts of a comeback and Thornhill would end up scoring the lone four goals of the final period.

The Waxers schedule doesn't get any easier as they conclude the weekend Sunday night at Wexford.
