Markham went into Stouffville needing a win in a big way, although they've been playing well the scoreboard didn't reflect it. David Colucci scored the winner and newcomer Jeremy Wenzel slammed the door shut as the Waxers took a 5-4 victory in a contest that could have seen Markham score ten goals.

Stouffville scored early on a powerplay to take a 1-0 lead before the Waxers got on the board less than five minutes into the contest. Lawne Snyder fed Greg Chambers and Chambers made no mistake as he skated down the right wing and unleashed a wicked wrist shot that wired high into the cage over the Spirit netminder's shoulder, Jim Ulcar drew the second assist. Six minutes later Chris Petracco scored the first of three Waxer powerplay goals of the night with assists going to Colucci and Snyder. The Spirit tied it up less than a minute later and then with five minutes remaining in the period Petracco scored his second of the game from Colucci and Donald Johnson to put Markham in front 3-2.

The clubs would exchange a pair of goals in the middle frame to conclude the scoring. After Stouffville had tied the score at 3-3 in the opening seconds of the period the Waxer powerplay struck again. Rob Mazzuca tipped in an Alex Stoyan blast from the point to put Markham ahead 4-3. The Spirit would score on a man advantage of their own to tie the score at 4-4. Colucci then scored the game winner, taking a pass from Snyder he darted up the ice and finished off a solo rush and slid the puck past the Stouffville netminder. That assist was Snyder's third of the night.
