| The Waxers were defeated by St.
Michael's Buzzers 8-7 on Thursday night.
Markham took a 2-0 lead on goals by Paul
Robinson and Daniel
Beaudoin before St. Mike's cut the lead in half. Then with
pure hustle and determination David
Colucci (playing in his first game of the year after returning
from York University) dug the puck out from behind the cage and tucked
it in with just one second left in the period.
After St. Mike's scored twice in the middle frame to even the score
up Markham jumped out in front again. Colucci scored his second of the
night and Greg
Chambers fired in a wrist shot to make it 5-3. But St. Mike's
came storming back and quickly evened things up before we'd repeat the
cycle anew. Joel
Kitchen scored a pretty breakaway goal and Rob
Burrows wristed in the Waxers seventh goal for a 7-5 lead.
Once again St. Mike's came back and tied the score before netting the
overtime winner.
