A strong effort for the Waxers and Tom Lawson in his return to the
blue and white could not produce a win this evening as the Blues handed the Waxers a 4-1
defeat. Bad luck and some good saves by the Collingwood netminder kept the Waxers off
the scoresheet for most of the game even though the majority of the final 40 minutes was
spent in Collingwood's end.
The Blues jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after only 16 minutes and they upped their
lead to 4-0 scoring a single as the horn sounded to end the second period.
The Waxers had been pouring it on and continued to do so until Bryan Lachapelle scored his
10th goal of the season to complete a pretty give and go play with David Colucci with a little over
7 minutes left. The other assist went to Midget callup Mike Stoyan,
brother of Waxers defenseman Alex Stoyan.
Markham pressed on in the last 7 minutes but could not get any more pucks past the
Blues goalie. Lawson faced 41 shots on the evening, including many early in, and responded
with a good performance especially considering he had been off the ice for almost a full
