The Markham Waxers defeated the visiting North York Rangers by a 4-1 count as they played a fundamentally strong game to earn their third consecutive victory and to keep their October record perfect, now at 3-0-0.

Lawne Snyder scored on the powerplay midway through the opening period with asssists to Kevin Tompkins and North York killer Ian Malcolm (last season Malcolm simply was phenomenal against North York as he scored 8 goals and had 5 assists against the Rangers in the regular season).

The Rangers tied it up early in the second and 5 minutes later Malcolm scored the eventual game winner (a powerplay effort) with Bryan Lachapelle and Tompkins drawing the helpers. Ryan Bayliss added his second goal of the year late in the period with assists to Daniel Sisca and Chris Petracco and the Waxers were up 3-1 after 40 minutes.

With less than eight minutes remaining in the game Malcolm finished off the scoring for the night with his second, also a powerplay marker as Brett Barrer and Mike Clarke drew assists.

Tom Lawson played a strong game in net as the victory improved the Waxers record to 6-3-1 for the year. Markham's next game is Friday night as they hit the road to take on the Durham Huskies.
