SAVOLAINEN.COM JOINS THE WAXERS!
The Markham Waxers are delighted to announce
that there will be another vital addition to their organization as Savolainen.Com will be
the creator and host of the Official Markham Waxers Web-site for the upcoming season.

in working with the Rattlers, and in particular with Coach Herrington . . . that made this
deal basically ‘the ultimate no-brainer’" adds John Savolainen, President
of Savolainen.Com. "Last year was a learning year for us, we had
never produced a sports-oriented website before. We had some ideas that we wanted to try,
some worked better than others but generally we got done what we wanted to."
"We were a little unsure as to how it would be perceived, best as we could
tell this was the first serious attempt to create a professional image for an amateur
sports team on the internet, obviously we found out that we need not worry about
that".
"While we’re not yet prepared to announce a launch date for the new
site we thought that it wouldn’t be fair not to disclose some of our plans since
there were so many people out there that lent us their words of encouragement and support
throughout the year." |
The move is a continuation of a working partnership between John Savolainen
and Waxers Head Coach Russ Herrington. The partnership started last season when
Herrington was with the Thornhill Rattlers which saw the web-site earn a "3-Star
Award" on January 12, 1998 from In The Crease, an internet magazine dedicated
to covering professional hockey in North America.
"It is a fantastic opportunity for the Waxers," says Herrington. "The
web-site John created for us last year was second to none and really helped expose our
players to a wider audience. Scouts from the OHL, NCAA, CIAU, and NHL visited our site
often and had nothing but compliments about the site. Savolainen.Com has a terrific
reputation and we are ecstatic that we have been able to get them on board in
Markham."

You can also continue to follow the progress of both the Thornhill (1993-98) and
Markham Alumni through the Tradition section of the site. Obviously, the web site will
continue to be the leader of the pack in coverage on the Markham Waxers and you can look
forward to new features added to the package for next season.
