RILEY HILL OT WINNER
SLAYS PANTHERS
Markham earned an exciting
overtime victory over the visiting Pickering Panthers thanks to a bullet
wrist shot by Riley Hill early in
the extra frame. James and
Joel Gaulrapp each had goals for
Markham while Leiland Gauley
collected 2 assists on the night. [recap]
WAXERS SMOTHERED ON HOME ICE
Markham came out flat in their
Rogers TV debut against the Thornhill Thunderbirds and unlike the game
before, could not come back from a first period 2-0 deficit. Goals
by David Kostuch and Joel Gaulrapp were not enough as the Waxers drop
below .500 with a 3-2 loss to the Thunderbirds. [recap]
SLOPPY SHOOTOUT WON BY
WAXERS IN COMEBACK FASHION
Markham staged a comeback
tonight to edge the Pickering Panthers by a 6-4 score in what can only be
described as a poorly played hockey game. It was painful to watch
from any vantage point in the arena and for Markham, it was the epitome of
winning ugly. Jonas Schell
led the way with a two goal effort for the Waxers. [recap]
ROGERS CABLE EXPANDS
COVERAGE TO INCLUDE 7 WAXER GAMES
The Markham Waxers and Rogers
Cable Television (York Region) are pleased to announce the inclusion of
the Markham Waxers in this year's OHA Primetime Broadcast Schedule.
Markham will be featured in a total of 7 games through the year - starting
Friday night at home versus Thornhill. [details]

WAXERS
RAISE $1900 FOR TERRY FOX RUN
The Markham Waxers combined to
raise $1900 worth of pledges for the 2004 Terry Fox Run. The Waxers
participated this year in memory of Etoile Hoult (mother of Brenda
Herrington) and Marion Ansell (mother of Merry Clayton)
who both recently passed away due to cancer.
ANEMIC POWERPLAY COMES
BACK TO HAUNT WAXERS
Missed opportunities in the
opening period proved deadly for the Waxers as they squandered numerous
powerplays in the opening 20 minutes in a 5-1 loss to the Milton Icehawks
at College Weekend. Leiland
Gauley scored the only goal for the Waxers. [recap]
MARKHAM BEATS SPIRIT
FOR SECOND STRAIGHT
Another good effort Friday
night for the Waxers as they were able to secure their first home victory
of the season, 7-4 over visiting Stouffville. Brett
Molnar and Brandon Fackey
each bagged their first Jr A goals leading the way for the Markham in the
midst of an all-out-of-conference week that ends Saturday. [recap]
WAXERS, O' NEILL EARN
FIRST VICTORIES
A solid 60 minute performance
by Markham in their first road action of the season saw the team secure
their first 2 points of the campaign thanks to a 6-3 victory over
Collingwood. First year goaltender Trevor
O'Neill earned his first Jr A victory stopping 29 shots. [recap]
WAXERS DROP ANOTHER
A disappointing start to the
season continued Monday in Markham as the Waxers lost to the visiting
Tigers by a 5-4 score. Unable to capitalize on an early 1-0 lead,
newcomers Jonas Schell, Shareef
Labreche, Brandon Rubeo and James Gaulrapp
scored their first Jr A goals in a losing cause. [recap]
WAXERS DROP HOME OPENER
In what was a hotly contested,
and downright nasty affair, a third period Riley
Hill goal was the all the offense could muster as the Waxers dropped
their home opener 4-1 to visiting Wexford. Two third period
powerplay goals, followed by an empty net goal in the dying seconds,
proved to be the difference in the game. [recap]
WAXERS RELEASE 2004-05
ROSTER
The Markham Waxers are pleased
to release the 2004-05 Opening Night Roster. The roster
features 9 returning players and 14 new faces. [roster]
WAXERS LOSE FLOWERS TO
PETERBOROUGH
The Markham Waxers are excited
to announce that Darryl Flowers
has signed and joined the OHL Peterborough Petes after a successful free
agent tryout. A devastating loss for the Waxers, but the staff is very
proud of Darryl. Flowers follows in the footsteps of Waxer Alum Greg
Chambers who also made the Petes as an undrafted player and went on to
a great OHL career. Best of luck with the Petes Darryl!
