NO TREATS FOR THE MARKHAM
WAXERS
In their second meeting with
the North York Rangers, the Markham Waxers fell behind 6-0 after 9
shots and 10:20 of the opening period. The Waxers battled back to
make it 7-5 in the dying minutes before a last second empty netter made
the final 8-5 as the Waxers, recently off a 10 game winning streak, lost
their second in a row. [recap]
HURRICANES WANT IT MORE
THAN THE WAXERS
A determined Newmarket squad
snapped the Waxers 10 game winning streak by outclassing their visitors in
almost every aspect of the game in a 6-4 victory. A mediocre effort
(well, that's generous) by Markham which fell flat on their face staring
at the opportunity to take over first place in the South. [recap]
GOOD TIME FOR A FIRST
JR A GOAL
It took some extra time but
the Markham Waxers were finally able to solve a hot goaltender and put
away the pesky Couchiching Terriers thanks to an overtime Mick
Ralph goal, his first in Jr A hockey. After firing almost 50
shots on net, the Waxers got the 3-2 win just under 40 seconds in to the
extra frame for a season sweep of the Terriers. [recap]
WAXERS COMPLETE WEEKEND
SWEEP
Markham avenged last year's
playoff defeat at the hands of the St Michael's Buzzers with a 5-3 victory
on the small ice Sunday night. A real back and forth game that saw
the short staffed Waxers win their 8th in a row. [recap]
CROSS TOWN RIVALRY
BOILS OVER
In a typical, heated Markham-Thornhill
game on Friday night, the Waxers won their 7th in a row defeating the
visiting Thunderbirds by a 4-1 count. The victory avenges an early
home ice defeat to Thornhill as the Waxers improve to 11-3 on the season. [recap]
WAXERS SQUEAK ONE OUT
IN OSHAWA
It was far from pretty, or
even for that matter dominant, but the Markham Waxers won their 10th game
of the season thanks to a 2-1 victory over Oshawa. Brett
Molnar and James Gaulrapp
got the goals for the Waxers. [recap]
VISITING TERRIERS SENT
HOME DISAPPOINTED
Markham returned to the rink
Saturday just 14 hours after completing a 4-0 shutout Friday night and
followed that up with a 4-2 victory over the visiting Couchiching
Terriers. Two first period powerplay markers proved to be the difference
as the Waxers held a 38-20 advantage in shots . [recap]
WAXERS SHUTOUT VIPERS
FOR 8TH VICTORY
Trevor
O'Neill stopped all 16 shots and Brandon
Fackey scored the first two goals of the night as the Waxers defeated
the Vaughan Vipers by a score of 4-0 for their fourth straight
victory. The Gaulrapp brothers, James
and Joel, each chipped in with a
goal as the Waxers record their first shut out in over 2 years. [recap]
WAXERS FILE SUCCESSFUL
PROTEST
The Waxers have filed a
successful protest of their game September 13 vs Aurora and as a result
have been awarded the two points from the game that they originally lost
to the Tigers. It was determined that the Tigers used an ineligible
player and because of the reversal, the Waxers now sit at 7-3 for the
season.
WAXERS EARN WEEK LONG
SWEEP
Markham finished their week in
style, winning their third straight game, with a 4-3 victory over the
visiting Newmarket Hurricanes. Nathan Morris and
Derrell Levy bagged
their first goals of the year in leading the Waxers to their 6th victory.

WAXERS FEND OFF RANGERS
IN EXCITING FRIDAY NIGHT FASHION
The Markham Waxers and North
York Rangers played an entertaining Friday night affair which saw the
Waxers earn their second straight victory, by a 3-1 score. Tied 1-1
after 20 minutes, the Waxers scored the go ahead goal midway through the
third of the stick of David Kostuch,
and sealed the victory with a last minute empty-netter. [recap]
