November 2004
THE
WEEK THAT THE WAXERS WISH NEVER WAS FINALLY COMES TO AN END
The Waxers
completed a week long hat trick as they fell for a season high third consecutive
time in the past seven days, this time in a 8-5 defeat at St
Michael's. [recap]
IF
ONLY THEY PASSED THE RULE FOR FIFTY-THREE MINUTE GAMES
It was a
colossal collapse for the Waxers tonight as they squandered a 3-1 lead in
the final 7 minutes of the game, losing on a goal with 18 seconds left on
the clock, as they fell 4-3 to Wexford. [recap]
WAXERS
WELCOME NEW GOALIE FROM THE DEEP SOUTH
The Markham
Waxers are pleased to announce that Jeff Fischer has joined the team from
the Central Texas Marshals of the NAHL. Jeff, a 1985 born
goaltender, is a native of Illinois who went to prep school at Shattuck-St
Mary's in Minnesota. In related news, goalie Rob Cundari had left
the team and returned to Sault Ste Marie over a week ago..
VAUGHAN
WANTS IT MORE THAN MARKHAM AND IT SHOWED
The Vaughan
Vipers soundly defeated the Waxers in their first trip to Woodbridge by a
6-2 count. Full marks to the Vipers who clearly wanted the game much
more than Markham. [recap].
SOLID
THIRD PROPELS WAXERS PAST THE BIRDS
The Waxers
defeated the Thornhill Thunderbirds in their first trip across Hwy 7,
thanks in large part to a 3 goal outburst in the third period to make the
final 7-3. [recap].
WAXERS
DEFEAT
OTTERS IN FIRST MEETING SINCE FRANCHISE REBORN
In the first
meeting between the Waxers and the reborn Huntsville Muskoka Otters,
Markham skated away with a convincing 5-1 victory. Five different
players scored for the Waxers as Trevor O'Neill earned his 15th victory of
the season. [recap].
WAXERS
AND RANGERS MEET FOR A SUNDAY "SISTER KISSER"
Sundays and
two goal leads have not been kind to the Waxers lately as a 2-0 lead after
40 minutes in North York ended in a 2-2 tie after 65 minutes. Nathaniel
Brooks scored his first of the year and Brandon
Fackey added the other goal. [recap].
WAXERS
WIN SECOND STRAIGHT TV GAME OVER VAUGHAN
Brandon
Rubeo led the way with 2 goals as the Waxers appeared to have returned
to their old ways as they defeated visiting Vaughan 5-2. Trevor
O'Neill earned his 14th victory while David
Kostuch, Brett Molnar and Nathan
Morris had the other goals. [recap].
WAXERS
SUFFER FROM MOTION SICKNESS IN ROLLER COASTER GAME
Like
riding a scary roller coaster the first time, where you run quickly to the
garbage can upon exiting the ride, the Waxers coughed up two points in the
worst way in Aurora Sunday afternoon. Not being able to hold the
lead 4 different times negated Adam Taylor's first Jr A goal and
Nathan
Morris' first Jr A hat trick as the Waxers lose 9-6. [recap].
O'NEILL
SHUTOUT PROPELS WAXERS TO VICTORY
Trevor
O'Neill earned his second shut out of the season, stopping 35 shots,
as the Waxers jumped back in to the win column with a 1-0 victory over
Oshawa. Josh Jacobs scored
the only goal of the night as the Waxers fired 47 shots on the Legionaire
net. [recap].
WAXERS
EXCITED AS NATHANIEL BROOKS RETURNS HOME
The
Markham Waxers are excited to announce that third year forward, Nathaniel
Brooks, has returned to the Waxers after
starting the year with
Chicago
of the USHL. Brooks, last
year’s 3rd leading scorer with 52 points, will return to his
familiar number 21 and suit up on Friday.
WAXERS ADD DEPTH AT
DEFENCE WITH LOCAL RESIDENT
The Markham Waxers are pleased
to announce the acquisition of Markham resident Stephen
Kapolnas from the Streetsville Derbys of the West Division.
Kapolnas, a 1986 born right shot veteran defenceman, adds depth and size
to the Waxers blueline standing 6'3" and 200 lbs. Kapolnas will
make his Waxer debut on Friday versus Oshawa.
