MERCHANTS RETURN THE FAVOUR AND HAND WAXERS FIRST LOSS OF THE YEAR
The Waxers fell behind 1-0, tied it up only to fall behind again by 4-1 and then after closing within a goal the Merchants opened up a lead that would not be relinquished as the Waxers lost 8-5. One of the lone bright spots was the three-goal effort by returning veteran winger Ryan Steane. Waxers conclude the silly season against the Hurricanes on Sunday afternoon in Markham..

THERAPIST/TRAINER REQUIRED IMMEDIATELY!
Last summer the Waxers congratulated trainer Phil Voutier when he got a new job in the OHL.  This summer, we welcomed Phil back to the team with the understanding that the OHL was no longer in Phil's blood and that he would remain with the Waxers.  Phil has now left the team without notice and taken another OHL position.  Qualified applicants for the therapist/trainer position kindly contact General Manager Larry Herrington at 905-470-2927.

WAXERS OPEN PRESEASON WITH NARROW VICTORY
The Markham Waxers opened the 2002 preseason with a narrow 6-5 victory over the Newmarket Hurricanes on a sunny Sunday August afternoon.  A typical exhibition game with disorganized play, poor defensive coverage and a multitude of penalties, Markham lead most of the opening half but entered the final period trailing 5-4.
